About the Artist

Sarah was born and raised in a small village in Dorset, where she discovered a love of nature, being out in the countryside, drawing and painting.

After studying A-level art at school, Sarah went on to study a diploma in illustration at Falmouth School of Art from 1993-1995, and then gained a BA Honours in Illustration and Design from Swindon College of Art in 1998.

For the next 25 years, she had a family and worked in Early Years childcare to fit around family life; however, now she has decided to come back to art full time.

She has a distinct, painterly style, with bold expressive brushstrokes and often uses a vibrant palette.  She blends realism with impressionistic elements, capturing light, reflection and movement in a dynamic yet soft way.  Her work evokes tranquillity and a deep appreciation of the natural world, with a strong focus on atmosphere and mood.  The paintings are on wood or canvas as stated on each description, and come ready for hanging unless stated otherwise.

Her linocut prints also celebrate nature – all hand carved and hand printed.  Most of them are monochromatic, but some also incorporate collage and watercolour.  The prints come mounted, and some are available as cards.

She also likes to experiment with new ways of working, and has recently been exploring some mixed media techniques incorporating geli-plate printing, collage, and encaustic wax.

Her works are also available at Vienna Gallery, Yeovil, Somerset.  She is open to taking commissions – please contact her to discuss.
